For income-qualified participants we offer a sliding-scale of grants based on the energy savings achieved by their renovation project.
Unlike the BetterHomes loan, incentive grants do not need to be repaid; it’s free money to help make your home upgrade a reality!
You may also qualify for external incentives. Your retrofit coach will help you determine what BetterHomes London and other incentives you may qualify for.
Income requirements
- Households with one person qualify if their income is less than $95,000 per year.
- Households with two to five people qualify if their income is less than $115,000 per year.
- For households with six or more people, please contact us.
You will need to provide proof of income for all income-earning members of your household with your application.
Incentives based on energy savings
The amount of incentive depends on the energy savings achieved by the home renovation. All projects must achieve at least 25% energy savings; additional energy savings are incentivized on a sliding scale. Your retrofit coach will help you ensure your project meets the minimum standards and can estimate the incentive you will receive for energy savings beyond the minimum.
| Energy Reduction | Incentive |
|---|---|
| 25% | $2,500 |
| 30% | $3,000 |
| 40% | $4,000 |
| 50% | $5,000 |
| 60% | $6,000 |
| 75% | $7,500 |
| 100% | $10,000 |
